The device is a 3-pin slide switch with the middle pin being the COM (Common) terminal. The switch can connect to either the left or right pin by sliding it in the respective direction.
Depending on the slide's position, either the right or left pin will connect to the center pin.

This circuit lights up a corresponding LED when the switch is slid to the left or right, without the need for any coding.
